Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India. The word ‘Yoga’ derives from Sanskrit and means to join or unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness. Today it is practiced in various forms around the world and continues to grow popularity. Recognizing its universal appeal, International Yoga Day is celebrated on 21st June all over the world. This idea was proposed by our Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi. To follow this practice, APS Mathura celebrated this day with great enthusiasm. Total 21 students with Mr. Yogendra Ponia, Sports teacher demonstrated various asanas. Warm up exercises were taken and all the students performed sitting and standing asans. He encouraged the students to practice regular yoga to remain fit and improve concentration.
