CELEBRATION OF CONSTITUTION DAY AT APS MATHURA

Constitution Day also known as ‘Samvidhan Divas’, is celebrated in our country on 26 November every year to commemorate the adoption of the constitution of India. On 26 November 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India, which came into effect on 26 January 1950.

An important part of the celebration  was the reading of the Preamble and reaffirming our commitment to uphold it. 1800 Students from classes III to IX and teachers read the Preamble in their respective locations.

The day served as a reminder to live by and promote these timeless values in our communities.

ARMY PUBLIC SCHOOL, MATHURA CANTT WINS NATIONAL LEVEL AWES ENGLISH DEBATE COMPETITION

Debate is one of the academic activities that gives students creative room to express what they feel. The knowledge the students imbibe through this is unparalleled.The aim of such competitions is to instill in children a sense of confidence amongst the students in public speaking and enhance the ability for logical analysis and expression.

 APS,Mathura Cantt feels privileged and honoured for being awarded with the Winner’s Trophy in the National Level Inter APS English Debate Competition under the agesis of AWES and the flagship of the Principal, Dr Ramma Mattoo who is known for her motivational words and connect with the children. Since our Command shifted from SW to Northern Command & got the opportunity to represent Northern Command although we were the Winners of South Western Command initially. The topic was ‘Entrepreneurship (Job creators v/s Job seekers) Myth or Reality’.  The topic was aligned with PM’s “Theme of Celebrating 75 years of Independence” and it focused on Post Independence 75 years and onwards.

The event was conducted by APS Shankar Vihar, Delhi on 24 Nov 2021.The participating teams were from APS, Bangalore Kamraj Road, Fazilka, Barrackpore, Delhi Cantt, Udhampur, Mhow and Mathura.

It was the incessant effort of the HOD English, Ms Rekha Gupta that the participants and Ms Anoushka Mukherjee XII Hum, Ms Vanshika Shivran XI Sc, Mst Shubham Class X respectively who could touch this zenith. They were also adjudged the best speaker ‘For  The Motion’,’ Against The Motion’ and the best ‘Interjector’ also. The competition was not the bed of roses but the endeavour of our students bore fruit with this extraordinary success. The event was a grand success inculcating positive values and providing a platform to the students to showcase their capabilities taking them to the summit. The victory would not have been possible without the support and strength of the school management who happen to be the guiding lamp for the all of us. We look forward to more such successful ventures under the guidance of the dynamic Principal, Dr Ramma Mattoo.  

PATRON MAJOR GENERAL ANAND SAXENA VISITS APS, MATHURA CANTT.

APS, Mathura fraternity was honored by the gracious presence of the school Patron Major General Anand Saxena on 16 November, 2021. On his arrival, he was welcomed by the Principal, Vice Principal, Head Boy, Head Girl and NCC Cadets. The Principal briefed the Patron about all the developments and progress of the School in the field of Academics, Sports, Co-curricular Activities and infrastructure through a presentation. He also visited the school campus and the site where the new classrooms construction is in progress.

Thereafter, the Patron felicitated the students of Class XII and X session 2020 with 0.1 Merit Certificate being issued by CBSE and the winners of English SWC debate Competition held in the month of August,2021 . He further addressed the students of class X, XI &XII  and motivated  & inspired  them to follow their passion as all of them are unique and have a different personality. He urged them to work hard and work for the goals they had set for themselves. He also interacted with the Staff members and appreciated for the hard work they had been doing to take the School to the heights it has achieved. Praiseworthy efforts of the teachers during the pandemic times were also acknowledged by him.

The Principal on behalf of entire APS, Mathura fraternity expressed her gratitude and thanked him for all the guidance and support extended by the Patron .The visit was a success and the same was acknowledged by the Chairman as well.

Guru Nanak Jayanti Celebration at APS Mathura

“With your hands carve out your own destiny.”- GuruNanak Devji

Guru Nanak Devji was the founder of Sikkhism and the first of the tenth Gurus. Guru Nanak Jayanti, also known as Gurupurab or Prakash Utsav, is one of the most sacred festivals of Sikhism. The day marks the birth anniversary of the first Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

To celebrate this propitious festival, the Children of Rani Lakshmi Bai House organized a special assembly on 15th November,2021. The program began with the Mool Mantra, the first hymn in the Guru Granth Sahib ‘Ik Onkar’ followed by the beautiful humming of the shabad which paved the way for a very fruitful and productive day for all. After a melodious rendition of the shabad, a poem  was recited  to highlight the teachings of Guruji. This was followed by the a skit and  mesmerizing dance on cosmic tunes of Shabad where the students expressed their gratitude and emphasized the importance of Guruji’s teachings in our lives. The students also depicted glimpses of the sacred life lived by Guru Nanak Dev ji.

The active exchange of ideas on how one can become independent and responsible kept the students engaged and animated.  To conclude, our Respected Principal, Dr Ramma Mattoo encouraged the students to uphold the spirit of brotherhood and develop a love for humanity through compassion and countenance. A vote of thanks was accorded for her constant guidance and support in instilling moral values. The event was successful and appreciated by all.

REPORT ON CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION

Children’s  day is usually celebrated in a very distinctive manner but this year 2021, it went very much different. A day marking childhood was celebrated at APS Mathura Cantt  with fun and frolic. A plethora of events- songs, skit, dance performance by teachers was released on 13th Nov,2021, a day prior to children’s day.

The event was graced by Respected Principal, Dr Ramma Mattoo. It began with the homage paid to Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru by offering garland followed by kindling the lamp of blessings from Goddess Saraswati. On this special occasion, Teachers gave various performances for the students  in order to exhibit their love and affection for them. The highlight of the event was a special performance presented by the Principal by singing melodious tunes for her loving children.. The skit with its humor and witty dialogues received a lot of likes and appreciative comments/ A few soulful renditions of songs enthralled the students. The scintillating dance performance by the teachers was enjoyed by all. The program concluded with the priceless words of Principal Ma’am highlighting the importance of the day and the childhood period. The heartfelt appreciation by the students is a testimony to the grand success of the celebration. It was appreciated by all.

FACULTY TRAINING PROGRAM FOR APS MATHURA FACULTY BY DISHA ECTL

“Teaching how to teach” is complex work as it places heavy demand on Teacher Educators.

One day Faculty Training Program was conducted by Disha ECTL on 10th Nov,2021.The purpose of the workshop was to acquaint the faculty members with all the requisite skills, which ensures successful teaching and learning. This program was meant to equip teachers in content and pedagogical competence and their implications to classroom practices. The workshop was well structured and methodical training for teachers help them recognize and remove any gaps  in the knowledge of subject content and incorporate a constructive approach to the teaching learning process. The Resource persons gave a brief introduction of the program and continued with the discussion of some modules based on COMMUNICATION PARADIGM, TEAMWORK& LEADERSHIP AND interpersonal skills including learning curve. It was followed by Ques Answer session wherein the speakers satisfied the queries related to the presentation or any other classroom situation. The presentation contained motivational videos and interesting, informative activities. The session was well organized and fruitful for all the teachers and benefited one and all.

NATIONAL UNITY DAY (RASHTRIYA EKTA DIWAS – 24th to – 31st Oct 2021

‘Alone we are a drop, but as a team, we form an ocean’. National Unity Day’ also popularly known as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, is celebrated on October 31st to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who is called the iron man of India. This day was commenced by the central government in 2014 in Delhi. It was decided to celebrate this day as National Unity Day to pay tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for the efforts made by him to unite the country forever. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel said,” little pools of water tend to become stagnant and useless but if they are joined together to form a big lake, the atmosphere is cooled and there is universal benefit”. So the main objective of National Unity Day is to promote National integration among Indians and it is shown every year through various programs in schools throughout the country.

The Online Quiz was participated by 150 students from Classes VI to VIII in which 17 students secured 100% marks. The effort of the students was praiseworthy. The second event organised on the day was a Painting Competition in which 30 students participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. The vivid imagination of the students comes vibrant in such painting events

Event 1: Talk on National Unity Day by a Student and a Teacher

EVENT 2: MOTIVATIONAL TALK ON ‘KNOW YOUR ARMY AND HOW TO JOIN INDIAN ARMY’.

To commemorate the RASHTRIYA EKTA DIWAS, a special Assembly was organized in APS Mathura Cantt where in a student named ADITYARAJ from Class VIII D delivered a special talk on the day. Further, to enlighten the students more on the occasion Ms Shadaab Faatima (TGT English) also addressed the group. The event was attended by 1200 students. Such talks always arouse the feeling of patriotism among the students and make the students aware that the country will become great only when unity becomes our identity. The words of wisdom spoken by the Principal were a great source of motivation for all.

Then it was at 11:00 am that a special Motivational Talk was by Maj Harish was conducted on the topic, ‘KNOW YOUR ARMY AND HOW TO JOIN INDIAN ARMY’ The presentation elaborated upon the role and organization of Indian Army. Further, the presentation comprehensively dealt with the selection process in Indian Army. So the presentation clearly indicated the ethos ‘Service before Self’.

Event: Debate Competition

Topic: ‘Unity in Diversity: A myth in India’

Inter House Debate competition was held in Army Public School on 28th Oct 2021 to commemorate the “NATIONAL UNITY DAY”. The topic of the debate was “UNITY IN DIVERSITY: A MYTH IN INDIA”. The Debate was witnessed by 216 Students. The Judges were Ms Rekha Gupta ( PGT- English), Ms Rita Pathak ( PGT English) and Ms Poonam Arora ( TGT English). Class VIII students from all the four houses participated in the debate with lot of zeal and enthusiasm. Anushka Chahar  and Aditya Rawat represented Arun House, Aditya Kuntal and Ayushi represented Hoshiyar House, Shashank and Nisha represented Rani Laxmi Bai House and Krishna Singh and Chanchal represented Sarojini Naidu House. Comparing of the event was done by Ritika Singh. The result is as follows –

It was a very successful event which showcased the oratory skills of the students and inculcated a strong feeling of unity among them. The Principal encouraged all the participants with her priceless words and applauded the effort put in by the students.

  1. VIGILANCE AWARENESS WEEK (26th Oct to 1st Nov 2021)

The Vigilance Awareness Week is celebrated every year in the birthday week of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who is often referred to as ‘Bismark of India’. Patel was born on October 31st and is hailed as a man of high integrity and honesty. This year, Vigilance Week is being observed from 26th Oct to 1st Nov 2021.

a)The purpose of Vigilance Awareness Week is to generate awareness at large about the ill effects of corruption. To commemorate this our students started with an Oath against this where in 1200 students participated.

As a part of the celebration of Vigilance Week and to reinforce to be honest  the morning assembly was conducted by the students on 27th Oct 2021 which was again attended by 1200 students. This created an awareness among the students regarding unethical practices and to be morally upright in whatever they do in life ahead.

Furthermore, it was on 28th Oct 2021 that the students conducted a talk on ‘Preventive Vigilance’ which laid a foundation for being a great morale booster and pillar of firm moral strength among the students. The Principal also encouraged the thoughts and values shared by the students.

It was in the wake of Vigilance Week that on 29th Oct 2021 a Debate was also conducted on the topic ‘Preventive Vigilance is a tool of good governance’. About 200 students were a part of this activity. Students shared their views on antidote to corruption and expressed their opinion that love conquers all and that all of us should join hands to eradicate all kinds of corruption by being strongly vigilant and help the country to progress. The Principal applauded and appreciated the way the students expressed their thoughts regarding the topics.

MATHS  PROJECT ACTIVITY

A little competition can inspire maths students to greater achievement.

Mathematics Project Competition was organised by APS Mathura on 29th October,2021 for the students of classes VI to XII.

The objectives of the competition are:

(a)        to encourage pupils to carry out innovative and creative work in mathematics, and

(b)        to provide opportunities for pupils to apply the mathematics they have learnt.

The students were instructed to make Maths project based on the topic/ theme allotted by their Maths teachers.

The projects submitted were being judged based on the following criteria:

1.      Depth of understanding

  • A good project gives clear, concise and precise explanation, making appropriate use of mathematical representations [e.g. graphs, charts and models] to illustrate ideas.
    • A good project demonstrates well-developed ideas.
    • A good project uses correct terminologies and notations, making it easy for others to understand what was done.

2.      Originality / Creativity

  • A good project reflects an exceptional degree of pupils’ creativity in the applications of mathematics/concepts.
    • A good project contains new information that makes the project interesting.

3.      Relevance (Application of mathematics knowledge/concepts)

  • A good project accurately explains how mathematical knowledge is applied in the areas discussed in the project
    • A good project makes mathematically relevant observations and/or connections between mathematical concepts in the areas discussed in the project.

The projects submitted were evaluated by Maths teachers.

DIWALI CELEBRATION

A Special Assembly on Deepawali was conducted by Primary Wing on  October 29, 2021. As we all know that it is a tradition to light a lamp first before starting any auspicious event so, lighting of the lamp was done by Honourable Principal of APS Mathura Cantt.

  • Prayer is a link which connects us with the Almighty and it was sung by Primary Choir Group.
  •  Pledge by Aashima Chachra of Class – 5 made as aware of our duties towards our nation.
  • Thought by Viraj of Class – 3 filled us with positive thoughts.
  • Interesting quiz by Aanandita of Class – 3 made us aware on traditions of Deepawali.
  • Melodious Group song by Children of Class – 4 & 5 made the atmosphere extremely auspicious.
  • Significance of Deepawali was explained by Priyank Jain of Class-5.
  • A mesmerizing dance performance by students of Class – 4 & 5 left the audience spell bound.
  • Students of Class – 5 shared their thoughts on celebrating environment friendly Deepawali through a small skit.
  • All the precautions to be taken while celebrating this festival was explained by Yash Kedare of Class – 5.
